The 3rd Annual SMS Cougar Walkathon was a huge success, raising over $2,200 in donations! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Seymour Pink in honor of Greyson Luyando. Over 130 students and staff members from every homeroom participated, raising donations from $1 to $120. Many proudly wore pink for Seymour Pink and black and green to honor Greyson, creating a powerful show of unity and compassion.
It is our honor as a school to support Seymour Pink and to honor Greyson’s memory through this annual event.

SMS Debate Team Kicks Off the Season
On Saturday, our SMS Debate Team participated in the Connecticut Middle School Debate League’s first scrimmage and tournament of the year in Glastonbury. Our Novice Debaters tackled the topic: “This House Supports U.S. Federal Term Limits for Congressional Representatives.”
A huge thank-you goes out to Mr. DiStasi for traveling with and covering the team for this event, while Mr. Catlin, our Debate Coach, continues to recover from surgery. We’re proud of our students for representing SMS with Cougar PRIDE, and we’re already looking forward to hosting the next debate at Seymour High School on December 13th!
