Support Services

Support Services at SMS include specialized instruction within the regular classroom where special education is interwoven with regular instruction in classes that are co-taught by a regular and special education teacher. There are also  pull out services for intensive skill development.  Eligibility for special education services are determined through the PPT process consisting of the school team and the child’s parents or guardians.

Support Services include special education teachers, a speech language pathologist, school counselors, and a social worker.  For students who are already qualified for special services, the support staff encourages parents to reach out to their child’s case manager via e-mail or phone call with any questions or concerns.  Parents will be notified for PPT meetings via standard mail and with a phone call.  Meetings will be held on Wednesdays.

Support staff encourages all students to follow the PBIS expectations, to provide their best effort academically and behaviorally, and to strive to meet their goals
